MANY will be horrified to read our front page story this week.
An elderly woman, in the safety of her own home, was the victim of a callous distraction burglary by people posing as charity workers.
Unsurprisingly the poor lady was left shaken, as the cowardly thieves took off with her jewellery.
The people involved in the theft posed as workers from the former charity Age Concern, a trick that duped the unsuspecting lady.
The charity, now known as Age UK, made clear that its workers would never demand to be let in to someone’s home, as was the case in this incident.
The police have limited information on the thieves but investigations are ongoing and we’re sure residents will have their ear to the ground to help track them down.
Taking advantage of elderly people like this is nothing short of vile.
