A RUNNER from Cirencester is taking on her second ever half marathon, to raise money for the charity that supported her father before he died.
Tracy Edginton, 42, lost her father to a brain tumour two years ago, and she has praised the work The Brain Tumour Charity during his last months.
Following his death, Tracy fell into a depression however. It was thanks to a running group in Cirencester that she recovered.
“I was getting depressed, so joined the Running Somewhere Else group,” she said.
“Since then I’ve made loads of friends and have been fine ever since.”
Tracy will be putting on her running shoes next weekend to take part in the Cheltenham half marathon, being held on Sunday.
It is the second half marathon she has run, but the first for charity.
Tracy has been in training going into the event, and says she is feeling “confident”.
“I’m running three days a week at the moment, up to 11 miles at a time,” she said.
“Remembering my dad while I’m running will push me on.
“Last year I did the Cricklade half marathon in two hours and 16 minutes, so I want to do it in under two this time.”
Tracy says The Brain Tumour Charity is in need of more support, and is proud to be fundraising for them.
“I know they don’t get a lot of help with the charity,” she said.
“They helped my father though, and the money I’m raising will help other people in the same situation.”
