WHEREVER you stand in Malmesbury, there is one iconic structure that is always in sight.
The stunning 12th century abbey, the building that put the north Wiltshire town on the map centuries ago, is the beating heart of Malmesbury.
It has, unlike many religious institutions, evolved with the times and even hosts an annual skateboarding festival.
It is in need of vital repairs however, and as government grant applications have been refused, the team at the abbey are looking to the community for help.
The campaign to raise the £250,000 for the abbey roof is one that we are sure will be supported across the town, and the Standard will be backing the efforts every step of the way.
A building with the history, beauty and presence of Malmesbury Abbey, deserves to be kept in the very best condition for the next generation to enjoy.
