A LORRY crashed into a railway bridge, just south of Malmesbury, blocking the road both ways this morning.

Police were called to the incident at 11.45am after the lorry got stuck under the King’s Way bridge on the A429 at Hullavington.

Nobody was injured during the incident, however the road was closed both ways while assessments of the damage were done.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “This morning an artic curtain sided lorry struck King's Way Road bridge in Hullavington. The lorry hit the bridge protection beam only and become wedged.

“The relevant safety checks were carried out and trains were running normally at 12.25pm after the line was examined."

The road has now been cleared.
