RAIN couldn’t dampen spirits in Malmesbury, as the town turned out to support its annual carnival procession.
Residents of all ages got dressed up and took part in the weird and wonderful event, which saw a host creative floats parade through the town centre.
The Rose and Crown pub, who created a ‘Day of the Dead’ float, impressed the judges, winning the best pub entry and best float prizes.
They also won the inaugural Bob Browning award, which was for the ‘wackiest’ entry in the procession, in memory of the Malmesbury legend who died this year.
Speaking about the day’s festivities Deborah Clogg, chairwoman of the carnival committee, said: “The weather was unfortunate, but in typical Malmesbury style they grinned and bore it.
“People put so much effort in. We were really delighted with the efforts both participants and crowd.”
