FOUR colleagues from the RAF are attempting to break a world record – in a pedalo.
On September 26, they will set off from Lechlade Bridge to begin the 123-mile journey down the Thames.
The team are looking to be the fastest to travel the length of the navigable Thames by pedalo and must complete the challenge in under seven days to break the record.
The idea came from Wayne Brinkley, 32, from London.
“I always dreamed of holding a world record,” he said.
“I went on the river in kayak in 2011 and the idea came to me then. Back then we didn’t have the time to do it but we revisited the idea in January.”
They will be raising money for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, a charity that looks after current and ex-RAF servicemen in times of need.
The team will be assembling at the Riverside Pub in Lechlade on Sunday before taking to the water at 8am the following morning to start their journey.
