POLICE are warning residents that lead thieves could be operating in Ashton Keynes, after lead was stolen from a derelict, Grade II listed building in the village.
The incident took place overnight on July 27 at a farm in Ashton Keynes.
The boarded up door was booted in and all the lead metal frames and sills were stolen.
No evidence was left at the scene, though prior to the event four males were seen in the area who, according to police, “appeared to be northerners in their 20's, wearing dark blue hoodies”.
No vehicle was seen.
A police spokesperson said: “There have been other similar incidents in the past few weeks and we are issuing a warning to anyone else, who may be targeted by lead thieves, to be aware that they may be operating in the area.”
