A POP-UP charity shop is making its return to Sherston next month to raise money for the village hall.

Marion Gee, 71, is bringing the ‘occasional’ charity shop back to the north Wiltshire village for one month only, after it caught the imagination of residents when it first opened in 2012.

To be known as ‘Act II’, it takes over from ‘Class Act’, which helped raise money for the conversion of the old school site into the present Post Office stores and business units four years ago.

Act II will once again be run by Marion and a team of volunteers in the village hall, with all profits going to the hall’s fundraising campaign.

“We’re really pleased to get the chance to do the shop again,” said Marion.

“We had great feedback about Class Act and I think it’s time to raise the curtain on Act II.”

Marion is a member of the Sherston Village Hall committee. She says the building is in need of a makeover.

“Village halls are vital to the community,” she said.

“We want to bring it into the modern age, with modern loos and facilities.”

Marion is hoping that people will rise to the challenge of donating good quality items to be sold on at the shop.

Last time a Valentino coat and Hugo Boss suit were kindly offered up as stock by residents.

There was also jewellery, accessories, furniture, toys, books and clothes for all ages, sizes, shapes and seasons.

“We had some wonderful bargains to offer last time,” said Marion.

“Everyone was very generous, both in what they donated and the items they bought. Please don’t get rid of anything.”

Residents who want to contribute to the shop should contact Marion by emailing manddgee@btinternet.com or calling 01666 841147.

Due to safety reasons electrical goods will not be accepted.

Anything left-over at the end of the month will be sold at a car boot sale later in the year.

The shop will open at the Sherston Village Hall on Monday, August 1 and will be open 10am-4pm every day during August except Sundays.
