BOONDOCKS fever swept through Malmesbury over the weekend, as the popular home-grown festival made its triumphant return.

For the second year in a row the festival was at capacity, this time welcoming 3,000 revellers to the site.

One of the organisers, Neil Muttock, heralded another successful year.

“It was the difficult second album, but it really worked,” he said.

“It was a monumental effort from hundreds of people to get it going.

“Though we’ve done it before there were elements we didn’t know what to expect, you’re never 100 per cent confident.

“It felt like a growing festival but still maintaining that original community vibe.”

The question on many people’s lips will be whether there will be a Boondocks 2017.

The decision currently hangs in the balance, while organisers decide whether to take a year off.

“It’s such a huge amount of work for the management team and planners, so we’ll maybe go to some festivals and get some ideas next year,” he said.

“The support is there however, and everyone is open to doing it again.”
