RESIDENTS in Wiltshire are urged to be wary of a new phone scam doing the rounds in the county.
Police have received reports of a man calling people, pretending to be from the Scotland Yard Fraud Prevention Department.
The bogus caller then goes on to tell the unsuspecting listener that a man has attempted to use their bank card to buy a computer in London for more than £1,000.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “If you receive a similar call to this, please do not give out any personal details including your name, address, card details and PIN number.
“Hang up immediately and call 101 to report the incident.”
