RESIDENTS in Cricklade will be getting even more from their Post Office, thanks to new plans announced this week.

The Post Office is to open a modernised ‘main-style’ branch at Cricklade Post Office and Sunday opening times and longer hours have also been announced.

The post office will now be open from 8am-8pm every day of the week; this is an extra 38 hours a week.

Joe Chapman, local communications manager for the Post Office, said: “We’re always looking for ways to make life easier for our customers.

“Making Post Office services available for longer opening hours supports an important community service.”

The branch closes for refurbishment on Wednesday, August 11, at 5.30pm for the work to be carried out. It will reopen on Saturday, August 20, at 1pm.

Nearby branches that can be used during the refurbishment include the South Cerney Post Office and the Abbey Meads Post Office.

After the refurbishment a larger selection of on-demand foreign currencies will be added to the wide range of Post Office products and services available.

Alan Ridoutt, Post Office area manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
