YOUNSTERS across the Cotswolds and north Wiltshire ‘diddi danced’ to tackle cancer this week.

The much-loved ‘diddi dance’ classes partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support to get little ones moving and grooving in aid of the charity’s Dress Up and Dance campaign.

The national campaign saw more than 2,000 children across the country don colourful and creative fancy dress to attend the pre-school dance classes.

The classes are designed to build confidence, co-ordination, rhythm, fitness, motor skills and social skills for youngsters.

The weekly 45 minute fun-filled sessions cover a variety of dance styles, from hip-hop to salsa, so every child’s taste is catered for.

To celebrate this year’s theme of ‘heroes’, there were specially themed classes across the UK for the whole family to enjoy.

Toddlers joining in took costume inspiration from sports heroes to musicians – even politicians – letting their imaginations run wild.

Founder of diddi dance, Anne-Marie Martin, said: “We are so proud and excited to be involved in Macmillan’s fantastic Dress Up And Dance campaign again this year.

“It is a natural fit with our weekly dance classes and dressing up is something that we know all our little ones and families thoroughly enjoy."

The events are in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity that provides support to children and families affected by the disease. They help with financial worries, medical information, emotional support and more.

“Macmillan is a charity that is especially close to our hearts and resonates with the whole diddi dance team as we have all been affected in one way or another by this disease,” continued Anne-Marie.

“The work of the charity to support everyone affected by cancer is truly remarkable and we hope that the money we raise helps Macmillan to continue their worthwhile and essential work to support those affected by cancer.”
