A WOMAN is lucky to be alive after falling 30 feet down a well in Malmesbury on Saturday.
The 39-year-old woman was rescued by crews from the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service after falling through some rotten wood covering the well.
It is understood that she was viewing the property which is currently for sale.
A crew from Malmesbury was called to the scene at 12.30pm and a specialist rope rescue team was subsequently called from Chippenham and Trowbridge.
They then set up a rig and lowered a member of their team down the well to tie a harness around the lady, who was then pulled out and picked up by an ambulance.
She was uninjured apart from a cut to her head.
A spokesperson for Trowbridge Fire Station said: “Proud to work for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service, fantastic to see us making a difference out there.”
