RESIDENTS turned out in their droves to run the Sport Relief Mile in Hankerton recently to raise more than £3,000 for charity.
More than 130 people turned out in force to run one, three or six miles in and around the village.
People of all ages completed the event and some youngsters enjoyed the one mile route so much that they ran it again.
A total of £245 was raised through the sale of homemade cakes, and a further £690 was raised through donations and entries on the day.
An estimated £2000 was also raised through sponsorships.
John Thorne, event organiser, said: “It was an amazing day. Residents got involved with a wide range of activities to make the event a success.
“Everyone was generous in supporting such a great cause.”
