A PROLIFIC fundraising couple from Malmesbury are holding a charity golf day with a twist.

The Naomi House Golf Day, hosted by Claire and Paul Sparrowhawk, will feature a must-see show from trick-shot specialist Paul Barrington, who is sure to entertain the crowds with his eclectic demonstrations.

Ladies European Tour professional Charlotte Ellis will also be taking part in the event held at South Cerney Golf Course.

The day is being held in aid of children’s hospice charity Naomi House & Jacksplace.

Speaking about the charity Claire Sparrowhawk said: “The hospice provide palliative care including respite, emergency and end of life care.

“Paul and I have been blessed with two healthy children and feel that we have the time to put into helping others that need support; 'doing our bit' as we like to say.

“The golf day is pretty full-on with the build-up of organising sponsors, team entry forms and tee times, getting hold of prize donations, trophies and planning how the day will run.

“We always pray hard for decent weather too.”

The golf competition is taking place on Friday, April 15, and is being played in Bowmaker format. A team of four costs £120 to enter.

The entry fee includes a bacon roll and coffee on arrival, trophies and prizes for winning teams and nearest the pin competitions.

There will also be a BBQ, raffle, auction and disco to round of a full day’s entertainment.

“The day itself is long and tiring but so worth every second,” said Claire.

“We've always received great feedback from people that have taken part in our golf days so far and we want to continue to make it a fun event for all.

“We usually get to the golf club for 7am on the day to get organised and don't usually leave until 11pm, so it's a long day.

“It's our biggest fundraiser of the year so lots of time and effort goes into this event.

“People are so generous and it's just fantastic to see people digging deep to make a difference to someone else's life.”

Local businesses have the opportunity to sponsor a hole for £100 which will go towards the Wiltshire hospice.
