  • INTERESTED in supporting the 200 club run in aid of Kemble Village Hall funds?

Contact the treasurer, Jean Whitehead, at 17 Station Road for an application form.

Last year £650 was raised by this monthly draw plus £600 given out in cash prizes.

Andrew Lennard has retired as chairman of the hall after nine years of excellent service and Nick Fox has stepped into his shoes.

Improvements in the last year have been resurfacing the floor, replacing the fridge and making and installing bookshelves in the entrance hall for a community book swap – an initiative that grew from the hugely successful Coffee Stop which is open each Monday morning 10am to 11.30am.

  • HANDYMAN/WOMEN needed for Kemble and Siddington Primary schools for one day a week – to start as soon as practicable.

Hours to be flexible, but anticipate three hours at Kemble 8.30-11.30am and then two hours at Siddington 1-3pm. Hourly pay is £8.26p.

Skills required/or jobs that may arise are putting up shelves, basic woodwork, painting and decorating, some gardening etc.

Please apply direct to the school’s office if interested.

  • A TOTAL of 224 banana boxes left Kemble House on January 22 in a magnificent response to Canon Andrew White’s appeal for warm clothing for the displaced people of Syria and Iraq.

The clothes went to a collection centre in Barnet, one of many around the country, from which articulated lorries will leave at the end of the month for the Middle East. The consignment is going out under the aegis of Samara’s Aid Appeal.

Many thanks to all who brought clothes and helped with the packing says Jill Kingston, local co-ordinator.
