A NEW bakery run by the Fabulous Baker Brothers family of television fame opened its doors in Malmesbury on Thursday (28).

With bakeries in Tetbury, Nailsworth and Chipping Sodbury, the Hobbs House Bakery brand is well-known around the Cotswolds for producing high quality handmade bread and cakes on site.

The family run business has opened its fourth shop on the high street to the delight of many residents.

Henry Herbert, 28, is one of the stars of Channel 4 program The Fabulous Baker Brothers alongside his brother Tom. He manages the retail side of the company and is pleased to be opening a bakery in the town.

“We’re very excite to be in Malmesbury,” he said. “We looked at the town a couple of years ago but there were two bakeries.

“The lease came up on one of them and it was in the perfect position.

“I really believe that towns need their core shops like their bakers. Not only is it nice to come to Malmesbury, but it’s nice to keep the high street alive.

“Malmesbury’s got a really nice feel. It’s got everything. There’s very little that you can’t in Malmesbury which is brilliant.

“Not many high streets have that.”

Malmesbury’s Mayor John Gundry officially declared the bakery open and said: “[Hobbs House bakeries] have an enviable reputation around the Cotswolds.

“I’m very pleased for one to come to Malmesbury.

“A high quality bakery and a high quality high street go together very nicely.”

One Malmesbury resident at the launch said she drives to the other Hobbs House bakeries in Chipping Sodbury and Tetbury to get her bread, describing it as “the best bread in the whole world.”

Anna Herbert, marketing manager for the bakery, said: “Hobbs House Bakery is delighted to be opening its fourth shop in Malmesbury.

“We have all rather fallen in love with Malmesbury with its fantastic shops and warm welcome.

“Our bread is made by hand by our bakers in Chipping Sodbury.

“We will be baking all our cakes in our Malmesbury shop letting us offer a great and exclusive range of delectable sweet goods.

“We will also be offering a fantastic variety of fresh made sandwiches and coffees with coffee roasted by extract coffee from Bristol.

“Our shop there will be run by family member Izzy Wells who was previously working in our Tetbury shop.”

The bakery can be found at 3 High Street in Malmesbury and contacted on 01666 822355.
