A PASSIONATE globe-trotter from Malmesbury is inspiring thousands of people all over the world with his daily personal blog.

Navjot Sawhney set up the Nav’s Project 365 blog to help spread his message of embracing the day and it has amassed over 2,600 followers from 45 different countries since its inception. The blog gets 30,000 people viewing posts on a weekly basis.

“I took a picture everyday of 2014 as a personal challenge to myself,” he said. “It was a way of pushing myself in terms of doing things and meeting people.

“I found out two things very quickly; that we live a lot of our lives in routine and that we don't appreciate the beauty of everyday life.

“Life was so routine and mundane last year so it was difficult taking a new picture every day, as we do the same things all the time.

“The challenge pushed me to capture beauty and the larger scheme of things.

“I wanted as many people as possible to learn those lessons, so I decided to repeat the project and make it bigger and better in 2015 by setting myself the challenge of visiting a country every month.

Navjot recently did a ‘Malmesbury week’ where he took pictures of various people in the town to highlight the importance of local community.

“I moved to Malmesbury two years ago and spend most of my time in the town,” he said.

“I try and capture the beauty of a lovely town like Malmesbury on the blog.”

As a Sikh, he also uses the blog as a way of educating people about his religion who may not be familiar with it.

“I’m a British-born Sikh and it’s an appearance people don’t recognise in the West Country,” he said.

“The blog helps desensitise people to the turban and what the meaning of it is.”

What started as a project for himself, the blog has become a means for Navjot to inspire people across the globe.

“A girl came up to me in Japan and said I had inspired her to do something,” he continued.

“People have seen the things I’ve done on the blog and gone and done it themselves.

“Someone told me reading the blog is part of their daily routine.

“When I started the blog I never imagined it would be in 45 countries.

“I didn’t see it getting this big.

“I'm happy taking great pictures and inspiring people.”
