TEMPORARY speed limit reductions have been imposed on roads in and around Malmesbury that could last up to 18 months.

Wiltshire Council have issued the changes to allow for safe construction of new roundabout and associated works nearby.

The temporary speed limits will be clearly indicated by traffic signs and will come into effect today (28) and it is anticipated that the restrictions will be required until January 29, 2016. The order will have a maximum duration of 18 months.

A temporary 30mph speed restriction will be introduced on the following lengths of road:

a) A429 Crudwell Road (Part), Malmesbury Without; from its junction with B4014 Filands in a northerly direction for a distance of approximately 300 metres.

b) A429 Crudwell Road (Part), Malmesbury Without and Malmesbury; from its junction with B4014 Filands in a southerly direction for a distance of approximately 300 metres.

c) B4014 Filands (Part), Malmesbury Without; from its junction with A429 Crudwell Road in a westerly direction for a distance of approximately 300 metres.

The council have also temporarily introduced a 40mph speed restriction on the following lengths of road:

d) A429 Crudwell Road (Part), Malmesbury Without and Charlton; from a point approximately 300 metres north of its junction with B4014 Filands in a northerly direction for a distance of approximately 900 metres.

e) A429 (Part) Crudwell Road / Malmesbury Bypass, Malmesbury Without and Malmesbury; from a point approximately 300 metres south of its junction with B4014 Filands in a southerly direction for a distance of approximately 900 metres.
