THE much-anticipated Boondocks Festival took place over the weekend, to the delight of local music-lovers.

Set near Malmesbury, the festival provided a weekend of fun for all the family and was enjoyed by a sell-out crowd.

This was the first time the festival has run, thanks to generous contributions from the public to a Kickstarter campaign set up by festival organisers last year to help get the project off the ground.

Philip Buxton, one of the team that helped organised the festival, was thrilled by how the event went.

"We've been flooded with positive messages and thanks from the people who came," he said.

"It was clear from looking around that everyone was having a great time.

"It's been lots of hard work from a big team of volunteers from the local area. All that hard work paid off at the weekend.

"The fantastic weather didn't hurt either."

Jackie Peel was one of the revellers who enjoyed the weekend. She said: “The organisers nailed this festival so much more that I think we were all expecting.

“It was professional yet homely, brilliantly organised, and the food in Boondocks cafe was to die for.”

Julie Exton was equally positive about the first Boondocks. She said: “It was a great local festival; well run, with a lovely friendly atmosphere over the two days, bringing the community together in a safe environment.

“It was great to see the children had lots to do.

"It has to be a yearly event now.”
