POLICE in Wiltshire are working with Trading Standards to catch scammers taking part in a fishy fraud.

Several incidences of conmen seeking to overcharge older people for bags of fish have been reported and two men were arrested in Market Lavington on suspicion of Fraud by False Representation on June 2.

The men have been released on conditional police bail and are aged 54 and 21. The pair are both from the North East of the UK.

Police believe a company called North Shore Fish, based in Durham is involved and are asking anyone with information on the scam to come forward.

The salesmen often target old peoples complexes, offering a pensioners' special deal.

The salesmen do not provide any prices for the fish or carry a list of prices.

Victims are often supplied with a mixture of fish, which consists mainly of Hake and Coley.

Police are asking anyone else who may have been affected by this or a similar scam to come forward by calling Wiltshire Police on 101.
