PLANS have been submitted to build 26 new sheltered apartments for older people on Gloucester Road in Malmesbury.

The plans, submitted on behalf of Churchill Retirement Living, contain the details of the proposed site which will incude 26 new flats and communal facilities if approved.

The building currently on site will need to be demolished to make room for the new flats and some residents have already commented that the site lacks parking spaces for residents.

Anticipating these complaints the application included one space for every three residents and explained that as the average age of the people living there was likely to be 79 and because of its proximity to the town centre it was unlikely that 26 cars would be brought on site.

Comments on the plans can be submitted to Wiltshire Council but must be received by July 16.
