WILTSHIRE Air Ambulance (WAA) is challenging people to walk, cycle or trek during its Silver Jubilee year and raise money for its life-saving service.

The charity is asking fundraisers to consider taking part in the White Horse Challenge, the Wiltshire Big Wheel or a Sahara Trek in Morocco.

The White Horse challenge is a sponsored walk involving seven of the county’s White Horses on July 4 and 5.

The White Horse Challenge is in its tenth year and has raised £110,000 for WAA wirth distances ranging from a seven mile family challenge to the full 52 miles.

The Wiltshire Big Wheel is a public cycling event beginning and ending in Devizes on September 6.

This is the first time that WAA is taking part in the Wiltshire Big Wheel, organised by Bristol-based Bike Events, and the charity has 40 places available.

Riders can choose from a 12 mile family challenge, 45 mile or 100 mile route.

The Sahara trek in Morocco is a 100km trek through stunning scenery and there are 16 places available.

WAA’s fundraising manager Rebecca de la Bedoyere said: “We’re delighted to offer these fantastic challenge events for our Silver Jubilee year.

“We’ve been flying and saving lives for 25 years thanks to the amazing people of Wiltshire, and we’re really hoping people will get stuck into a challenge this year and go the extra mile to raise vital funds.

“We’ve got challenges to suit all ages and levels of fitness. You can stay local and enjoy Wiltshire’s stunning scenery or travel further afield with us for the challenge of a lifetime in the Sahara.

“You can take part with your family, friends, colleagues or on your own. Whatever you get involved with, every penny raised in sponsorship will be helping to keep our life-saving helicopter and crew flying.”
