A HERD of 15 to 20 deer are believed to have been poached from a field just outside of Malmesbury.

Police are investigating but believe the animals were taken sometime between April 17 and April 20 from a park north east of the town.

A 4x4 vehicle is suspected to have been used as there were tyre tracks found on the land after the deer were found to be missing.

Police believe the thefts took place in the early hours of the morning, between 3am and 4am.

The Malmesbury Neighbourhood Policing Team is investigating the incident and has increased patrols in the area.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity around the area during the early hours of the morning should contact police on 101.
