A CREDIT union has been set up in Malmesbury and those with a little free time are being asked to volunteer to help others save and borrow locally.
Joining a credit union is a way of saving and loaning money as a community, with relatively low rates of repayments for small loans.
After saving with the North Wiltshire Credit Union for 13 weeks those who join will be able to apply to borrow up to three times what they have saved, and then pay it off at between 12.7 per cent and 25.4 per cent APR.
This new credit union, based at HEALS Malmesbury’s office on the High Street, needs volunteers to man collection on Tuesdays from 10am- 12.30pm and Saturdays 10am-12pm.
Anyone from the Malmesbury area is welcome to join for the cost of £2 and can begin saving immediately.
To join the credit union or to volunteer in Malmesbury call 01666 238100 or visit the HEALS team at their office at 44 High Street, Malmesbury.
