NOMINATIONS for Wiltshire Police’s Neighbourhood Policing Awards are now open to help recognise exceptional officers in Wiltshire.
Police officers, police staff, members of the Special Constabulary and other volunteers who have made an exceptional contribution to a neighbourhood can all be nominated.
The awards are to celebrate those who are serving the public best and making progress on the main priorities set out by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon, Angus Macpherson.
These include reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, protecting the vulnerable in society and putting victims and witnesses first.
Mr Macpherson said: “This is the second year of my Neighbourhood Policing Awards.
“We had a great response from the people of Wiltshire and Swindon last year and I hope many more will submit their nomination this time.
“I believe communities can play a key role in policing and reducing crime through greater levels of ownership and volunteering. These awards help to promote various watch schemes like Neighbourhood Watch, Farm Watch and Community Speed Watch.
Nominations can be made in the following four categories: Neighbourhood Policing Team of the Year; Police Community Support Officer of the Year; Volunteer of the Year and Police Officer of the Year.

The deadline for nominations is April 2 and the awards will be presented in Devizes during Volunteers’ Week on June 5.
