THE 1970s are returning to Malmesbury with far out style thanks to musical entertainers the Long Players.

After their wildly successful performance of Michael Jackson’s album Thriller in its entirety, complete with costumes, a zombie crowd and spooky lighting, the group have decided to stage an even more mind blowing performance.

This time around the Long Players will be performing David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, with accompaniment provided by the Spiders from Malmesbury.

On March 15 the Kings Arms in the town centre will be transformed into the set of a 1972 episode of Top of the Pops complete with cords, tank tops and clipboards galore.

To promote the musical experience they plan to create the group released an imagined album cover depicting Starman Ben Goddard posing as Bowie did, except this time on St Dennis' Lane.

Ben, a sixth former at Malmesbury School even had his hair cut for the occasion and will be sporting a glorious mullet on the night.

The band and the whole Long Players team ask that anyone coming along to enjoy the show and a few dances afterwards come dressed in 1970s suitable attire to complete the atmosphere.

Tickets are now available from A4 Stationers in Malmesbury High Street  for £7.50 per person.
