PUPILS and staff at Sherston Primary School are to celebrate 10 years at their current site on February 21.
In 2004 students left the old school building on the High Street for the final time before marching over to their new premises.
The move was the result of a £1.6million build paid for by the sale of land in the village, a change from the original plan to renovate the old school building.
On February 22 of 2004 the site of the new Sherston C of E Primary School was blessed by the Bishop of Bristol and the site officially changed.
The original school stood on the same spot for 150 years but was outclassed by the new build, which included a large hall, six classrooms and newer facilities enjoyed by pupils since the move.
Although the new building serves the school well the Friends of Sherston School are helping to make the most of its new site and frequently holds fundraisers to continue to improve the school’s facilities.
The school will be holding events later in the year to commemorate the move, particularly when the weather improves.
