A THIRD sell out event for Malmesbury Community Choir took place on December 6 in Malmesbury Abbey.

A range of classic and more modern music was sung by the choir including a selection of Christmas carols with photography provided by 15-year-old Toby Denning.

The choir is relatively new to Malmesbury and has been covering its costs with previous outings, though now it is hoping to raise more money for good causes.

Committee member Fiona Craig said that the crowd sang along, got into the Christmas spirit and even got on their feet at the end of the concert.

She added: “We did a piece called The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun. We did that as an encore and people were dancing at the back which we thought was rather unusual for a choir concert!”

As well as the full choir there were songs from students of Malmesbury School, spin-off groups from within the choir itself and Neil Muttock and Ami Kaelyn performing their version of 2000 Miles that was recorded and released as a free download last year.

As well as the event itself raising money for Winston’s Wish the proceeds of selling the recording made of the concert will be given to the organisers of the Boondocks Festival, a community led festival for Malmesbury which will go ahead in the summer of next year.

To buy a copy of the recording speak to a member of the choir at late night shopping or send a message to the choir via their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/MalmesburyCommunityChoir.

Additionally the choir would like to welcome people to come hear them sing again on December 21 in Malmesbury Waitrose from 12-1pm in aid of Malmesbury District Foodbank.
