THE man who died following a crash in Minety has been named by police as 49-year-old Stuart William Harris.
Mr Harris, from Portland, Dorset, was driving a white Volkswagen Passat along Ashton Road towards Minety at 3.06pm on Friday.
A member of the public who had driven down the road alerted police after the crash, which was attended by PC Lee Prince.
He said: “A white Volkswagen Passat was seen being driven a long Ashton Road towards Minety.
“A short while later the same witnesses saw the car had struck a tree. Unfortunately the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Police do not believe that anybody else was involved in the incident but are asking anyone with more information to come forward.
Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting the log number 212 of November 14 with any information they have about the incident.
