PEOPLE who want a say on the future of Malmesbury and its Action Plan are urged to share their views with the town council on social media.

The Malmesbury Town Team’s work on developing a future strategy and action plan for the town centre is now well under-way. Their objective is to drive forward initiatives in the town to ensure its ongoing prosperity.

The town team are about to carry out one-to-one contact with major stakeholders in the town centre, major employers and community groups. A survey of local workers is also being carried out in conjunction with major employers. A version of the survey will be available shortly on Facebook to give individuals the opportunity to share their views as well.

The study is also looking at the future opportunity for Malmesbury and future trends to ensure the town taps into retail opportunities.

The Town Team is keen to be as inclusive as possible and welcomes feedback via Twitter, Facebook, email and on the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Malmesbury_Town_Centre Gordon MacPherson, from the Town Team, said: "A review of the initial findings to date have taken place with a dedicated workshop to develop the Action Plan, scheduled for the end of October.

"New bespoke research undertaken has included a postcode survey of consumers in the town centre. The research was conducted over five days in July, with 482 responses received, exceeding the target of 400.

"This information has been analysed and used to define a catchment for the town centre and to provide insight to the type and profile of residents living within this area. In conjunction with the postcode survey, the 482 users were also asked a number of questions to find their current usage patterns and future aspirations for the town centre."

The survey considers how the town centre is currently performing by collecting information on; consumer behaviour, issues faced by the town’s operators and the improvements that the town requires. A bespoke review of the existing town centre offer has also been undertaken along with that of other nearby centres to enable Malmesbury’s offer to be considered in context to the wider retail landscape and not in isolation.
