MALMESBURY residents are being warned by police to avoid dealing with door to door salesmen without proper licenses.
Several traders have reportedly been calling at homes in Lea and Tetbury hill selling cleaning products without a permit.
Sgt Martin Alvis explained that the group had arrived in a minibus, pretending to be selling cleaning products legitimately, but were trading without a peddler’s license.
Trading without a license carries a £200 penalty and licenses themselves are only £12.50 per year, issued in this case by Wiltshire Council.
Sgt Alvis said: “Calling on people at night is totally out of order.
“If they return then they are going to get arrested.”
