A FAMILY of Tiggers leapt out of an aircraft at the weekend to raise money for the children’s hospital that treated a Sherston toddler.

Tigger was little Alfie-Ray Clark’s favourite character and when he died from a rare form of cancer two years ago, family and friends donned Tigger costumes for his funeral.

On Saturday they zipped them on once again to raise money for Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal with a skydive.

“It was absolutely amazing,” said Kelly. “We asked if we could wear them and they weren’t too sure then just as we were about to go up they said: ‘yes.’”

She and partner Darren Clark were part of a group of friends including Marcell Chapman, Ann-Marie Holt, Chris Satchell and Carl Holt, who took part in the jump at Redlands near Swindon.

In the weeks beforehand she admitted to a fear of heights, but pledged to overcome it for the fundraiser. Darren had teased her that she would not find the courage, but when she sent in her official entry form he decided to join her.

“I was fine all day long, right until we actually got into the plane,” she told the Standard. “On the way up there was a bit of turbulence. I hate that feeling and they told me I looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights. “ “Darren was scared as well. But he loved it that much I’ve just booked him in to do another one. It was an overwhelming experience.”

Kelly is hoping to raise £300 for the appeal in memory of her son, who suffered from a very aggressive form of neuroblastoma. He was just 18 months old when he died following an operation to remove a tumour.
