MECHANICS at Cirencester's Northfield Volkswagen garage are revamping a VW Golf as part of a national competition.
The team of eight technicians - based at Kingsmeadow, Cricklade Road - are currently working on a J-registered Golf VR6 as part of Dubmasters 2008.
The competition aims to find the VW retailer with the best rennovating skills in the UK.
Each entrant has been given a budget of £1,500 to buy an old VW to revamp over a six month period.
Once complete, the car will be auctioned off with all profits going to the charity Cancer Research.
The climax of the competition takes place at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, Leicestershire on June 22, where the Northfield team will compete against 15 other teams from across the country.
David Wolff, brand manager at Northfield Volkswagen, said: "This project is a fantastic motivational tool. Our employees are working hard towards success, putting in their own time to bring this iconic vehicle back to showroom standard."
