A MAN has been sentenced to three years in jail after admitting two counts of indecent assault against a teenage boy.

Alwyn Clayton, 62, from Cirencester, pleaded guilty at Gloucester Crown Court on December 18 to two counts of indecent assault against a male under 16 and two counts of gross indecency involving a male under 16 years old. He was sentenced on Friday.

A police investigation revealed that he had indecently assaulted the boy on a number of occasions when he was between 13 and 17-years-old.

He was arrested by Gloucestershire Police on June 20, after his victim came forward and a thorough investigation into the claims was launched.

Detective Constable Matt Phillips said: "We would like to comend the victim for his bravery in coming forward.

"We hope that his courage gives strength to other people who have suffered abuse to contact Police for advice, support and to bring the offender to justice."
