A man hoping to be reconciled with his wife after a six year separation arrived at her home to discuss their reunion and found her dead.

On the day of the tragedy Susan Scott, 60, had texted husband John, from Aberystwyth, West Wales, saying she loved him and wanted him to come and see her.

He drove to her home in Somerford Road, Cirencester, only to find her dead in bed.

Mr Scott told the coroner he and his wife had been talking about moving back together.

"She had been well, strong and fit since she started working part-time and she enjoyed rambling and working on her allotment." he added.

After discovering her Mr Scott called an ambulance but paramedics failed to resuscitate her.

The coroner was told that the only illness Mrs Scott had suffered from was high blood pressure.

Pathologist Dr Jeremy Christie Brown said Mrs Scott had been relatively fit and healthy but there was some narrowing of her arteries.

She had died when her heart stopped following an acute heart arrythmia.

"With high blood pressure, the heart has to work harder," he said, "and the narrowing of the blood vessels supplying the heart make this more difficult."

Summing up, Mr Crickmore said: "She had a history of high blood pressure but had stopped taking medication for it when her home-taken readings returned to normal."

"I believe that Mrs Scott died from a natural disease process," he added.

Verdict: Natural Causes.
