A WOMAN from Gloucestershire has been found guilty of killing a pensioner by punching and kicking him.

Amanda Howard, 46, from the Forest of Dean, was found guilty of manslaughter at Bristol Crown Court today. She was cleared of a charge of murder.

Howard, of Edinburgh Place in Broadwell, kicked and punched 66-year-old Gerald Nott at his house in Queensway, Broadwell, causing him fatal head injuries.

She was remanded in custody to appear at the same court for sentencing on May 22.

After the verdict, Gloucestershire police's senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Ian Ginn, said: "This was a vicious and cowardly attack on a man in his own home.

"We hope Amanda Howard's conviction today will at least provide some comfort for the victim's family.

"The judge himself paid tribute to Gerald's family and Amanda Howard's family, saying they had both shown great dignity throughout the trial."
