RACIST thugs are making a Moreton man's life a misery by repeatedly vandalising his car.

Danny Mendoza, of Station Road, described the past year as a nightmare he fears will never end.

"I wanted to start a new life around here but it doesn’t help with people giving me trouble."

And he has hit out at police for failing to take his situation seriously.

Danny lives with his girlfriend Jane Dempster, who is eight months pregnant, and recently moved to Moreton from Upper Slaughter because of a campaign of racist taunts and abuse.

But he said within a week of relocating a tin of paint was poured over his Citroen Saxo. A week later his car was targetted with pink nail varnish.

"It started when I used to hang around Stow-on-the-Wold and my brother came home and told me there was a gang of people being racist to him," said Danny, who is originally from The Phillipines.

"One day I went to see one of them to ask why he was doing this and that is when the trouble turned on me."

Mr Mendoza said the gang were from Bourton-on-the-Water and ranged in age between 18 and 27.

"Every time I walked down the street people called me names, they were racist insults, and I had never met any of them before," he said.

On one occassion he was even chased by a baseball bat-wielding thug who smashed the windows of Mr Mendoza's car.

But he believes the police will not get involved because he has a previous criminal conviction.

"I wanted to start a new life around here but it doesn't help with people giving me trouble and the police bringing up the past," he said.

"The police always tell me there is not enough evidence. If I had done something wrong the police would be on me like a tonne of bricks."

Alexandra Macrae, chief executive of the Race Equality Council for Gloucestershire rural racism was as major problem.

"The problems that these communities face with regards to social cohesion are different from those in the bigger cities where there are different ethnicities.

But a police spokesman assured the Standard the matter was being treated seriously.

"There is an investigation ongoing," he added. "Any information that we have been given will be looked at as part of the investigation and we would appeal for any witnesses to these events to come forward."

If anyone has any information on these incidents call police on 0845 090 1234.

I'm a regular viewer of the Internet version of Wilts & Glos Standard. I'm Moreton born and I spent my early years living in Stow. Dec 07 I emigrated to the Philippines with my Filipina Wife of almost 17 years and our 2 mixed race children. Having just read Danny's story I'm saddend & ashamed by the racism he suffers and therefore feel I need to write a response. As a family and individually we never experienced any such racism. There are more good people than bad. Don't loose faith in the justice system, allow the Police to do their job. Hopefully these people will eventually get board and leave you alone. Enjoy your new live in the UK. It's a beautiful country just like the Philippines is.

Salaam

British society and British schooling are the homes of institutional racism.

Bilingual Muslim children need state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models.

i live in stow and i am of a family of mixed race so not at all racist but i am saddened to see how danny mandosa has took every body in, he was living in stow not slaughter he himself has spent years terrifying people he goes by the name d boy he carries a weapon and has been known to use it the last time being about 5 weeks ago when some one accidently knock his girlfriends arm so he used the weapon on them , he used the website beebo to brag (with pictures) about crimes he did,and saying people were not safe to walk stow because he was a so called gangster and it was his territory when you have read the standard in the past and seen reports of vandalism fighting drugs and you thought to your self whats the world coming to these people should be dealt with that was more likely him and his gang he even used to brag how the police could never charge him with the crimes as he could use the race card he threatened kids from all surrounding villages and towns so i wouldnt be suprised if the attacks were more revenge than random racist attacks though i dont condone this it makes me sick to think that danny or d boy what ever he wishes to be known as now is reported as a victim as he has made so many people victims of his actions. racism is disgusting but believe me so is some of the actions of this young lad
