A DRIVER and passenger have been taken to hospital after driving off a bridge over the A429 in Cirencester this evening.


Both people are said to have suffered critical injuries after the car landed on its roof from height onto the A429 Swindon Road at around 6.15pm today.


Fire crews from Cirencester cut the driver and passenger out of the vehicle.


One patient has been taken by Wiltshire Air Ambulance to John Radcliffe Hospital and the second patient has been taken by road ambulance to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.


No other vehicles are believed to have been damaged or involved in the crash.


Gloucestershire police have closed the road until further notice.
