Cirencester children welcome new play train Cirencester children welcome new play train

CHILDREN in Cirencester can now enjoy a new piece of play equipment that was gifted to them by a neighbouring village.

The Chesterton Community Project was given the play train by South Cerney Parish Council for the Thistle Park Community Garden.

Project member Bob Berry has spent much time restoring the engine and carriage for children in the ward to enjoy with funding from the Waitrose Community Matters scheme and Cirencester Soroptimists.

Good to see that train travel between South Cerney and Cirencester is not dead.

It's great to see this train in use again. It was gifted to South Cerney a few years ago. After much use at our Robert Franklin Way playground, some parts wore out, and the labour costs made it beyond economic repair. Now, thanks to the work by Bob Berry, it has been fully restored.

A recycled train: you don't get much greener than that!

Next task: re-cycle the old railway line from South Cerney to Cirencester, as a cycle track!

GREAT TO SEE SOMETHING FOR THE KIDS, ABOUT TIME THE TOWN COUNCIL AND CDC HELP TO PUT SOME PLAY EQUIPMENT IN, INSTEAD OF DOING NOTHING FOR CHESTERTON.
