TWO care home workers in Cirencester got on their bikes to aid an elderly people’s charity.

Jemma Simmonds and Maxine O’Brien, who work as activity co-ordinators at Hunters Care Home in Cirencester, spent all of last Wednesday on two exercise bikes to raise money for The Barchester Foundation, the charitable arm of the company which runs the home.

The pair rode a distance of 96 miles, the distance from Cirencester to their company’s headquarters in Chelsea Harbour, London, between them raising £120. Several of the elderly residents also put in stint on the bikes to add a few miles.

A series of other fundraising activities took place simluntaneously across the country to mark the company’s 10-year anniversary.

The Barchester Foundation provides grants to benefit older people and other adults across the UK with physical or mental disabilities for things such as mobility scooters.
