A PUB has been handed the Cirencester Pub of the Year award for the second year running.

The Keepers Arms, in Quenington, picked up the CAMRA award much to the delight of its landlord John Gardener.

John has been landlord for 10 years and is grateful to win the award.

“It’s a nice nod from CAMRA,” said John. “I won it last year so I’m used to winning all of these awards.

“We’ve always said we’re a traditional British pub. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and we try to have a good time, but we try to do everything properly.

“Most things are homemade, the beer is well looked after. We’ve also got four en suite letting bedrooms and a little cottage round the back.

“On the whole we do alright. We’re pretty busy and our online profile is pretty strong.”

John will receive a framed certificate to hang in the pub. Before becoming a landlord he worked in IT for Comstor in Cirencester. It was after a spell travelling when he decided to become a landlord.
