VISITORS have been banned from entering a tenant's home after police found suspected drugs during a search.

At the beginning of April, officers searched a property on Bowly Road, Cirencester, and seized suspected class A drugs last month.

Four people at the address were arrested and are currently under investigation for possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply.

Police applied for a closure order on the house, which will remain in place until mid-August this year.

The order makes it an offence for any person, other than the tenants or landlords, to enter or stay in the property, anyone who breaches a closure order can be arrested and jailed.

Police Sergeant Garrett Gloyn explained that the order had been obtained because there were concerns about the safety of people living near by.

"It has been necessary for police to obtain this order to address concerns we and other agencies have about activity at the address, and the safety of people living both near to the house and in it," said Sergeant Gloyn.

"In short, we want to stop what we believe was criminal activity being undertaken from the property."

Officers hope that by obtaining and enforcing the order they will send a clear message to Cirencester residents that they take the issues seriously.

"We hope that in obtaining the order, and enforcing it, residents in Cirencester will see how seriously we take the issue," added Sergeant Gloyn.
