A MEETING was held to discuss planning strategies in Moreton-in-Marsh.

Conservative MP for the Cotswold, Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, attended the meeting in Moreton-in-Marsh to discuss strategic planning in the town with Lord Dulverton, Cllr Nigel Moor and representatives of Moreton Town Council.

Concerns were raised about the number of houses being built in Moreton and the added pressure that this will put on car parking.

Those present also felt congestion on the A429 Fosseway could also increase as a result.

Additionally, public assurances were given that consultants would look at pressures on parking on the High Street and whether there is a need for a new car park or not.

As a result of Sir Geoffrey’s lobbying, funding for the footbridge extension over the railway in Moreton is now in Gloucestershire County Council’s capital budget.

This is an urgent matter as HGVs are travelling at excessive speed over the bridge making a collision with a pedestrian a considerable risk.
