An RAF Serviceman is taking part in his third display season as part of the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team.

Sergeant John Veitch, of Cirencester, began his final display season as part of his three-year tour with the RAF Falcons.

Having completed their winter training in preparation for the 2018 display season, the Falcons are set to launch on Friday, April 27 at their base, RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

For over 50 years, the RAF Falcons, have delivered high profile displays from up to 12,000ft across the UK and abroad.

Each member has been specially selected for their role and as well as putting on displays for the public, they also undertake training to become parachute jumper instructors, where they will deliver operationally focused parachute training for the entire UK Military.

In 2006, Sgt Veitch, 31, joined the RAF as a physical training instructor. In 2012, he chose to specialise as a parachute jumping instructor. He successfully completed his instructor course and was subsequently posted to No 1 parachute training school before he was selected for his current role on the RAF Falcons in 2015.

Sgt Veitch said said: β€œIt is an honour to have been part of the RAF Falcons, and this will undoubtedly be a special year as it is the Centenary of the RAF and will be my final year on the team. It has definitely been the pinnacle of my career to have the opportunity to perform displays in front of the public with my team mates around the world.”
