CIRENCESTER Signpost, a charity that works alongside the homeless and vulnerable in the community, has launched its Food Share Fridge and Freezer.

Following consultations with the Environmental Health team at Cotswold District Council regarding food safety, Cirencester Signpost which is also a registered food business, went into partnership earlier this year with Marks & Spencer in Dyer Street receiving foodstuffs including chilled food that would otherwise have been discarded.

Trustees Graham and Juliette Harris said: " We are delighted with the quality of produce we have been receiving. We have been looking into the most effective way of ensuring the food is made available to those most in need in Cirencester.

"So with the assistance of Vanessa Arbuthnott, we have been able to set up a Food Share Fridge and Freezer located at the Bothy in Ashcroft Road where we are able to turn the donated food into hot meals for the homeless and their friends.

"We are grateful to Amanda Delaney and her team at M&S for making this venture happen".

These first "Good Neighbour Meals" have just been launched on Mondays and Wednesdays at The Bothy on Ashcroft Road and are proving very popular and Cirencester Signpost is committed to providing this service several times a week throughout the year.
