A giant eagle owl was spotted tearing apart a juvenile buzzard on a road by Minchinhampton golf club on Monday night.
Piers Risely-Pritchard and his girlfriend Sharon Alexandra Theaker were on their way home to Cherington, when Sharon spotted the eagle owl in the headlights.
Although they managed to get very close to the bird, it remained focussed on its prey.

“We were within 6ft of the eagle owl,” said Piers, who was surprised at the bird’s size.
“It barely acknowledged our presence even though we stopped to take a photograph.
“The wingspan was between five and six feet, it was huge.”
When the couple returned the next morning, all that remained was a pile of feathers previously belonging to the juvenile buzzard.
