The Corinium Museum in Cirencester has become one of the partner museums for this year’s BBC Civilisations Festival which will run from March 2-11.

The festival is a partnership between museums, galleries, libraries and archives and the BBC to coincide with the broadcast of BBC Arts’ Civilisations series in the spring.

The museum has been awarded a grant from the Art Fund from its ‘civilisation’ funding programme to work with renowned mosaic artist Cleo Mussi from Stroud who will demonstrate mosaics on Saturday, March, 10 from 10am, creating a contemporary piece in response to the theme – identity.

Corinium Museum has also received funding from the Roman Society to create a new educational session for key stage two pupils entitled ‘Roman Identity’ which will be shared on March 10 as part of a special events day.

Museum events throughout the festival will include a civilisation themed family trail, discovery tables exploring identity and gallery talks showcasing objects from the collections.

The Corinium is an award winning museum that tells the story of archaeology across the Cotswolds.
