Police investigating a crash on the M5 in Gloucestershire in the early hours of yesterday have now identified the owner of the car.
The force previously published an appeal for a potentially injured driver who fled the scene of a crash at around 3am yesterday.
The incident only involved one vehicle, which took place on the southbound carriageway between junctions 9 and 10.
A silver Mercedes E220 left the road and collided with a barrier on the nearside before going back across the carriageway to the central reservation.
Although it has not been fully established who was driving the car at the time of the incident, police are no longer looking for anyone else in connection with it and have closed the investigation.
Gloucestershire Constabulary thanked everyone who shared the appeal.
