PETS had the chance to meet Mrs Claus this festive month at Cotswold Vets.

The vets near Cirencester held a fundraising day on Wednesday, December 13 in aid of Oak and Furrows Wildlife Rescue Centre in Cricklade.

The rescue centre in north Wiltshire are facing closure this Christmas, unless people’s festive goodwill can help them get through the winter.

It is hoping to raise £50,000 by February to help meet the costs of caring for nearly 300 sick animals.

Cotswold Vets decided to join efforts to keep the rescue centre open and raised £1,858 during the fundraising day.

During the day, pet owners brought their dogs, cats and guinea pigs to 'Santa's Grotto' to meet Mrs Claus and were given toys as gifts.

Anna Gamsa, head veterinary surgeon and director, said: "The Oak and Furrows do a fantastic job. We often have wild animals come in to us. So they will take any hedgehogs, swans, deer. They provide an invaluable service for those animals."
